Knotweed in Sussex

Sussex is a beautiful county along the south east coast of England. It is home to the vibrant city of Brighton, England’s most populous seaside resort, plus market towns like Horsham. As a county, Sussex has a wide variety of landscapes – from coastal plains and beaches to the forests and footpaths of the South Downs and The Weald. This sort of landscape needs to be protected and that is why we are here.

Japanese Knotweed

Fallopia Japonica, also known as Japanese Knotweed, is a real troublemaker. Introduced from Japan in 1825 as an ornamental plant, knotweed is not unattractive and therefore can often be overlooked. However, its rapid annual growth and relentless spread allows it to easily overwhelm other garden plants.

In 2009 the foreign plant invaded a village in West Sussex. The report said; “Some people have been cutting it and that’s absolutely fatal.” Japanese Knotweed Sussex are here to prevent this from happening again. We use the most common and cost effective approach of treating Japanese Knotweed, the use of herbicides. There are different methodologies used for treating Japanese Knotweed and they all vary depending on site specifics. All of our Japanese Knotweed management plans and methodologies are carried out within the guidelines of the current legislation.
